Keeping Everyone Safe in 2021

We are delighted to welcome you back to Hyde Hall for the 2021 season! The safety of our visitors, volunteers, and staff remains our top priority. By following safety guidelines, increasing vaccination rates, wearing masks, and maintaining safe physical distancing, we can overcome Covid-19.  Thank you for helping to keep our community safe. 

Hyde Hall is committed to your safety by:

  • Requiring Reservations for All Visitors and Groups
  • Mandating Masks/Face Covers for all Visitors (Regardless of Vaccination Status)
  • Limiting Tour Sizes to 8 Individuals in the Mansion
  • Maintaining Safe Physical Distancing
  • Continuing Increased Disinfection and Sanitation

Hyde Hall expresses its deepest gratitude to all Bassett Network employees and volunteers for their hard work and care for our community throughout the Covid-19 pandemic by offering free admission for the month of June (Bassett Network IDs or proof of employment required). 

June 24 | 7:30 PM
Album Release Celebration for
Hyde Hall and the Silver Goddess:
Operatic Brilliance of Auber, Bellini, Meyerbeer & Rossini from the Drawing Room
Listen to tracks from the album live and hear directly from the artists as they discuss their process. You’ll learn how they explored the archives, transcribed works, and recreated some of the lost music. Following a lively discussion and concert, there will be a tribute to project supporters and a lighting ceremony in the Grand Staircase Hall.
• FREE and open to the public, no reservation required, space limited

June 25 | 7:30 PM 
The Ship’s Captain
This 1817 singspiel parodies famous pieces of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and popular German folk songs. Performed in one act, the comic work describes the mishaps and hijinx of two sisters, their guardian, and a mysterious suitor, featuring Joelle Lachance and Yvonne Trobe, artists who have sung at the Glimmerglass Festival.
• $20 Adults, $10 Student/Youth (age 10-17), reservations required

Summer Ghost Tours
Come hear tales of the frightful and mysterious happenings in the shadowy corridors of the historic mansion. On this hour-long, guided tour, you might discover what terrorized James Fenimore Cooper Jr. in the middle of the night, and maybe you’ll spot what stalks the notorious back hall—are you brave enough to enter the house after dark?
• $20 Adult, $15 Youth (age 10-17), reservations required 
• Extended periods of walking and climbing stairs are required.
• Enter through Glimmerglass State Park (1527 Co Rd 31, Cooperstown, NY 13326)

July 23rd | 7:30 PM
George Templeton Strong and the Clarkes
George Templeton Strong chronicled the musical scene in early America in his diaries. His sons were friends of the Clarke family and spent time at Hyde Hall. A string trio of Strong’s son, a well-respected composer, is coupled with music of Antonín Dvořák. Readings from Strong’s detailed diaries paint a picture of musical life in America.

The Full Clarke Experience Special Concert and Dinner Fundraising Event
An evening of flute and violin music from Hyde Hall’s collection pairs perfectly with a sit-down dinner whose dishes are meticulously recreated from menus in the archives. Pretend for an evening that you’re one of the Clarkes. Tickets to attend only the concert will be available (formal attire is required for participants at dinner).
• Concert Only: $20 Adults, $10 Student/Youth (age 10-17), reservations required
• Concert + Dinner in Hyde Hall’s iconic Dining Room: $295, reservations required

A guided tour pairing historic lighting devices with samples of historic cocktails

Join a paranormal team for discussion and ghost hunt

Hyde & Shriek! Candlelight Ghost Tours

Lit by candlelight, this guided tour takes you within the chambers of the 200-year-old mansion to explore the eerie places where ghostly apparitions have dwelt for over two centuries. You might catch a glimpse of the restless souls confined to the shadows of history as you listen to haunting tales in the old mansion —a must-do on your autumn wish list!
